2006
Gold Level Pinnacle
The Pinnacle program was established in 2005 to recognize Sections and Divisions that successfully create and deliver member value during year. Sections and Divisions are reviewed in four categories of achievement: organization, technical programming, membership and communication. Two levels or achievement are possible: Silver and Gold.
Sections and Divisions that meet specified criteria receive an award at ANTEC each spring
Newsletter (Large Section, 2nd Place)
All SPE Sections and Divisions are invited to compete for the Annual Newsletter Award. This award, given continuously since 1968, recognizes outstanding newsletters within the Society. Determination of the winners is made by a panel of judges who consider graphics, legibility, timeliness, and news content.
There are categories for large Sections (500 or more members), medium Sections (200 to 499 members), small Sections (under 200 members), most improved newsletter (no membership requirement), Divisions (no membership requirement), and two Grand Prizes - the Abe Schoengood Awards - for the best overall Section and Division newsletters.
A Division or Section that wins first place two years in succession is not considered for place awards for one year. This restriction does not apply to Sections that have changed one classification to another. However, if your Section or Division has won for the past two years, and it merits recognition, you are eligible for Honorable Mention.
Star Achiever Award
The STAR program was established in the 1989-90 year as a means for Sections to perform a self-evaluation of their efforts during the year. Criteria forms are sent to all Sections each year to enable them to report on their activities in areas such as educational opportunities, technical meetings, conferences, Section finances and administration, work with students and the general public, and participation in various Society-sponsored events and contests.
